Sri Guruvayoorappan Temple Cultural Committee conducts many cultural events every year. Each event is unique to itself. Each program is organized based on quality, variety, and content. All the cultural events comprise several aspects, such as spiritual, cultural, and traditional categories. Our cultural events are designed to unite communities in many ways that express their ideas, traditions, and values. Sri Guruvayorappan Temple Cultural committee conducts many youth cultural programs to encourage youths to showcase their talent. The youth programs aim to propagate traditional values to preserve Indian Music and Dance. These youth programs bring children and adults to exhibit their cultural prowess on a common platform. The temple cultural committee accommodates a variety of artists and brings forth the unique skills of talented artists in communities across the USA and India. The Temple conducts cultural programs during major Hindu festivals (Maha Sivaratri, Sri Rama Navami, Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dasara, Diwali, and many more) and on other events such as the Temple Foundation day, Indian Independence Day, Indo American Community Fair, to bring diverse communities together.
The following are a few of the many events the Temple conducts yearly. Bhajans/ Slokas, Dance, Dramas, Children Skits, Carnatic music festival by the youth, Carnatic Music Mela, Harikatha, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Mohiniattam, Odissi Folk Dance, and Fol dances of many other states of India. Many famous prominent and Popular artists from India performed at the Temple, such as Unnikrishnan, Vishaka Hari, Mysore Brothers, Jayanthi Savitri, Samavedam Shanmukha Sarma, and Pasumarthy Venkateshwara Sarma.
HATCC’s Facilities team, along with dedicated volunteers, converted unused land into an organic vegetable garden. The produce from the garden will be used by Temple’s Bhojanashala, and the remaining produce will be used to generate funds for the temple. This organic garden uses cow dung as manure for growing vegetables.
